Spray Foam Roof Systems

Spray Foam Roofing in South Florida

Spray foam roofing, or SPF roofing, is a roof system made by spraying high-density polyurethane foam onto the roof and finishing it with a protective coating. The result is a seamless, insulated, lightweight roof that sheds water and reflects heat. ProFoam & Coatings installs spray foam roofs on flat and low-slope roofs across South Florida.

How a spray foam roof works

An SPF roof starts as two liquid components that react and expand as they’re sprayed, bonding to the roof surface and forming a solid layer of closed-cell foam. Because it’s sprayed in place, the foam fills gaps, wraps penetrations and can be built up to improve drainage in low spots.

Foam breaks down in sunlight, so every spray foam roof is finished with a UV-protective roof coating, usually silicone or acrylic. That coating is the part that gets renewed over the years, while the foam underneath keeps working.

    Benefits of spray foam roofing

    Seamless

No seams or laps, which is where most flat roofs leak.

    Insulating

The foam adds insulation across the whole roof.

    Lightweight

Adds very little weight to the structure.

    Better drainage

Foam can be tapered to reduce ponding.

    Renewable

The top coat can be renewed instead of replacing the roof.

    Where SPF roofing fits

Spray foam roofing is used on flat and low-slope commercial roofs, warehouses, plazas and some residential flat roofs. In many cases it can be applied over an existing roof after wet and damaged material is removed, which avoids a full tear-off.

We inspect the roof deck, check for trapped moisture and look at drainage before recommending SPF. If the existing roof isn’t a good base, we’ll tell you.

    Foam roof repair and maintenance

Spray foam roofs need regular checkups. Small punctures and damaged areas can be repaired, and the protective top coat should be inspected and renewed over time. If you already have a foam roof that’s leaking or losing its coating, we handle foam roof repair and recoating as well.

Pairing an SPF roof with spray foam insulation inside isn’t usually needed, since the roof itself adds insulation. We’ll look at the whole building and recommend what makes sense.
